This is a hint/walkthrough file for the "Viper M1" H anime game. It's originally available in Japanese from Sogna, but Hobibox now has a Japanese & Italian & English version! I'm hoping that if they sell enough copies to the non-Japanese-reading adult gamers, they'll be encouraged to make more products in English! "Ace of Spades 2" was going to be one of the next ones, at the time "Viper M1" was released. Li Sun said: In this Viper series, there are three stories. In Green Boy, one of three girls in a flower shop gets a strange seed which becomes something fun. In My Mothers, a girl has to put on a special suit to save her boyfriend. In The May Works, two aliens target a girl for conquest. The game comes as one CD for Windows 95/98, in a very nice storage box with text in English and Italian. Unfortunately, the picture of "Ace of Spades 2" inside has only an Italian caption which AltaVista translates as "in the same necklace." Hardware requirements are on the game case; any PC bought new in the last 4 years should be able to handle it. I couldn't find any keys to speed up text display. The main selling point of the Viper series is the animation used throughout the game. Japanese voice is also used for all the characters; if you don't catch it the first time there is a handy "Repeat" option on the menu. There are 3 stories in the game, "The May Works", "My Mothers", and "Green Boy". They each play like the usual H adventures, with choices like "Look" or "Think", but with a lot more animation to the graphics. Aside from "Green Boy", I have no idea what the titles have to do with the stories. There's a hint of a possible sequel to "My Mothers" if you get the "good" ending. I've started with "The May Works", but there's no order to or linkage between the stories. You need a walkthrough of some kind to play, unless you like doing the kind of trial-and-error leading to "Game Over" that can consume hours. I'm going to skip any unimportant stuff until you get to important choices. The one you should choose has ">" and "<" around it, >like this<. THE MAY WORKS: Go Home/Downtown - see Slamy/Kabuto first. >Run AwayStraight (Home)Listen< - First "Listen" to learn more about the story. Doing "Run Away" first will put you on a map of the city, but there's nowhere helpful you can go without getting a GAME OVER one way or another. Listen at least explains the story; then Run Away puts on you on the city map. Save the game once you're here in case you make a mistake. The "best" ending is found if you go south (down) from your starting location nearly all the way, then head west (left) at the intersection a block BEFORE the railroad crossing (at the end of the large brown apartment building). Go all the way west, then follow the road north, and turn west into the "highway". It's all automatic after that... Love of a Tomogotchi can be a powerful thing... Other interesting graphics that are bad endings can be seen if you: 1. Run Away before Listen, and go to the School 2. Listen then Run Away, and go to the School 3. ditto, and go to the Convenience Store 4. ditto, and go to the Park Careful, because there are several blocks where either Kabuto or Slamy (was this supposed to be Slimy?) will always get you. MY MOTHERS: You can't go wrong (hint - go into the Park) until you have a Fight/Run Away choice. Given that you don't have the power suit Grampa was talking about yet, RUN AWAY! Other than that, your only real choice in the game is to go to Shinjuku or the Park. Believe it or not, the way to go is to blow off Grampa and go to the Park first! Going to the Train Station, which will take you to Shinjuku for one fight, and then back so you go to the Park anyway, eventually gives you a bad ending - although those into bondage may want to see it... To win all the fights, just pick either of the Punch or Kick choices until you get a 3rd one, then pick that to end the fight. Note that this girl is named Mika, and the one in "The May Works" is Maki. Also, Grampa should have picked something besides stray cats to power Mika's suit, since it only does 10 points damage until she's 2 hits away from losing (all the enemies do 15 damage each time). Didn't check for the other bad endings, aside from losing the first fight (before you have the suit). I'd guess that there are at least 2 more, for losing to a guy inside the castle, or to Rei. GREEN BOY: The first important choice is when Kazumi asks Natane to take care of the shop. Choose "O.K." rather than "NO"; "NO" will get you an interesting sex scene (who's the guy with the green hair?) but the game ends with no answers. I suggest you also insist on watching the shop when Namiki offers to, as well. Later, you should ask your sister's advice, and show them what is happening. That will get you to the "good" ending. Variations on this will get you various "bad" endings: Namiki gets the seed and ends up leaving in an ambulance, Natane doesn't use a condom because she won't go in Namiki's room, Natane and Namiki have fun but use condoms, etc. Li Sun had a saved game file on his website, but the .REG file there is for the Japanese version, not the English/Italian/Japanese one. As these stories are rather short, and I think I figured out all the endings to the stories, I won't do any more work on this game. It looks like there isn't any photoshop for this game, just the music jukebox when you click on "M1 Information." If you know different, let me know! Pete's Mini-Review: Good graphics, I guess good Japanese voice too. One complaint is that a lot of the MIDI songs start out silent or very quiet for several seconds, so the jukebox isn't much fun. The translation could have used some more work, especially as there isn't that much text in these stories (hint: use fluent native English speakers as beta testers, please! I volunteer...), but you can usually figure out the intent. Aside from jumping back to saved games to look for more endings, there is no replay value, so you may have this disc in your computer only once for a few hours - unless you want to look at the animations again some lonely night... The 3 stories are also rather short, and there would have been a lot of room left over on the CD for more story if they'd skipped the CD music. But I guess that's the way Sogna does things, and they've apparently done pretty well in Japan so far... I hope that Hobibox or Sogna releases more of the Viper series in English! Please, everyone support them by buying the official release rather than sharing pirate copies! If you have anything to add to this file, let me know.
