This is a hint/walkthrough/patch/review file for the Windows bishoujo game "Snow Drop" in English from Peach Princess (PeaPri). Japanese version from Will Japan's "Sweet Basil" label. Bishoujo, meaning "pretty girls", is the word that PeaPri wants to use for this type of game, rather than H or hentai. Personally, I think you should only be using bishoujo for games with no adult graphics content, such as "EVE burst error." But I'm not the authority... The game comes in a DVD-type case with a small booklet of instructions and "liner notes" on the one disc. Other than that, some things you should know are: - The Setup menu includes installing or updating DirectX and DirectMedia. If you have DirectX 7.0 already, nothing significant will be altered on your computer. To tell what you have, in the Windows Start menu go to Accessories, System Tools, System Information. Once started, go to the Tools menu and pick "DirectX Diagnostic Tool". The DirectX version is the next-to-last line of text on the first screen. Strange how this software requirement isn't mentioned anywhere, but at least they put the installer on the disc. - If you read the liner notes carefully, you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Shizuka. - The install process will create a "Snow Drop" folder where you browse to. You can't just type in the text box that defaults to "C:\Program Files\Will", you have to browse using the "..." button. - The "full" install used up 527 Mb (not 650) on my hard drive. Could be due to using FAT32 on the hard drive. - Starting the game the first time will put you at a game screen where you have to left-click twice, then it will jump into the opening movie, then put you in a hallway. Essentially it does a "New Game" for you. After you have done that once, it will go through the Load/New/ Option/Exit menu screen as expected. - Left-click to skip seeing the opening movie. - The game allows 30 saves, 3 screens of 10 each. - You can right-click in any Load or Option screen to exit/back out. - Game graphics are 640*480. - Right-click again to bring the text box back while playing. - Game text that you've seen already is shown in light blue (cyan), new/current stuff in white. - The fast forward button stays in effect until the next choice has to be made, or you left-click. - I didn't see any effect from changing the Letter Edge or Letter Shadow settings. You'll probably want to set the Message Speed to Fastest even if you're not fast-forwarding through the text. - To uninstall when you're done playing Snow Drop, you should put the CD back in, and choose the Uninstall option. But if you don't want to lose your saved games and photoshop info, copy the "savedata" folder somewhere else. Also copy it, and restore later, if you want to switch from one game install to another (say minimal to full, to increase the speed of play and reduce the wear on your CD drive). You should now skip down to the "REVIEW" section if you don't want to see spoilers contained in a walkthrough and CG patch. WALKTHROUGH Your first choice in the game is which ski slope you'll go on with Keika: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert or Other. But that actually doesn't matter. However, your next choice to Apologize/Don't apologize to Kyoka, that one IS significant even though the game seems to force you to apologize anyway. After that, it's a matter of picking a very specific set of choices to get to the special endings. Make one mistake before you get to day 4, and you're guaranteed to see the "Peace - Normal Ending" where it seems like just another vacation. The rest of this is my simplification of the walkthrough provided by PeaPri on their website, and what Tsukiyono Omi (omi-kun[AT}myrealbox{DOT)com) did. As PeaPri says in their walkthrough, you usually get 3 choices of ski slope during the day, then 3 choices of evening activity each day. These aren't numbered as such in the game, you'll just have to keep track of how many you've done. THE ENDINGS PEACE - NORMAL ENDING The standard ending is for Minoru to fumble around accidentally seeing a girl naked here or there, but not have intercourse with anybody, and end up leaving the area with a whisper on the wind from Shizuka. That one is called the "Peace - Normal Ending" by PeaPri. To get this one, just "Don't apologize to Kyoka", or don't go to the Hot Springs on the morning of Day 2, or basically don't make ALL the choices necessary to get the other endings (the next one is the easiest). PEACE - ENDING This is slightly different from the default ending. You have to make ALL of these choices: Day 1 - Evening - Apologize to Kyoka Day 2 - Morning - Hot Springs (see Shizuka & washing machine) (Day 2 - Slopes #1 - Beginner is snowmobiling with Kyoka, just so you know where that event occurs - NOT NECESSARY FOR ENDING) Day 2 - Evening #1 - Girls' Room (see Honami's breast) Day 2 - Evening #2 - Shizuka's Room (talk to Shizuka) *Day 2 - Evening #3 - Kasumi's Room (Kasumi talks aloud about husband) Day 3 - Morning - My Room (may have to pick this twice, Shizuka masturbating, this turns on Snow Festival part of the next significant choice in this sequence) Day 3 - Slopes #2 - Intermediate (Shizuka bumps into you, see Snow Festival if you're on track) Day 3 - Evening #1 - My Room (Shizuka offers herself to you) Day 3 - Evening #2 - Girls' Room (Kyoka talks in her sleep) *Day 3 - Evening #3 - Kasumi's Room (Kasumi & Shizuka H) (could get Kasumi - Bad Ending at this point) *Day 4 - Morning - "Don't comfort Kasumi" *Day 4 - Morning - "This just isn't the Kasumi I've known!" (could go to track for Shizuka - True Ending at this point) (could go to track for Shizuka - Normal Ending at this point) (Day 4 - Morning - Hot Springs twice IF you don't want those other endings just mentioned - NOT NECESSARY FOR ENDING) *Day 4 - Slopes #1 - Expert (see nobody) *Day 4 - Slopes #2 - Expert (Kyoka, other hot springs) (could go to tracks for other 4 endings at this point) *Day 4 - Evening #1 - NOT Lounge or Shizuka's Room *Day 4 - Evening #2 - Lounge (Kyoka spaced out) and further choices are not significant for this ending now The ones without the "*" above are the choices you can easily mess up to get the "Peace - Normal Ending" by getting just one of them wrong. The ones with the "*" above are handled differently in the PeaPri walkthrough, though I don't know why. Get this ending, and you'll see an end screen with the 4 girls skiing, although this scene won't appear while you're on track for this ending. Mess up these choices, and you'll probably get "Peace - Normal Ending" again, with a rare chance of lucking into one of the remaining special endings. KASUMI - BAD ENDING Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, except on Day 4 Morning, pick either "Comfort Kasumi", or "Don't comfort Kasumi" followed by "I guess that Kasumi is simply frustrated." This is the first of three bad endings; in this one you don't quite know what happened, but you certainly stop living. KEIKA - BAD ENDING Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, up to Day 4 Evening #1. Day 4 - Evening #1 - Lounge Day 4 - Evening #2 - My Room (Keika) Day 4 - Evening - "Hold onto her." (Keika) ("Don't hold onto her" gets you to the Peace Ending.) This is the second of three bad endings where you certainly stop living, although this time you have a pretty good idea why. SHIZUKA - NORMAL ENDING (This is incorrectly called "Kyoka - Normal Ending #2" in the PeaPri walkthrough, but they're just copying what they got from the Japanese version.) Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, up to Day 4 Morning in the Lodge. The only differences between how you get this ending and "Shizuka - True Ending" is going to the Kitchen instead of the Lounge on Day 4 Morning, and going to the Lounge for Evening #3 instead of the Hot Springs. Day 4 - Morning - Lounge (nobody there) Day 4 - Morning - Lounge (Shizuka and Keika talking) Day 4 - Slopes #1 - Beginner (Keika, go in woods) Day 4 - Slopes #2 - Expert (Kyoka, hot springs, spaced out in Lounge) Day 4 - Evening #1 - Shizuka's Room (Shizuka & Honami H) Day 4 - Evening #2 - My Room (Honami offers herself) Day 4 - Evening #3 - Hot Springs (nobody bothers you) Day 4 - Evening #4 - My Room (Kyoka clothed on top) Day 5 - Evening - "I want to speak with Shizuka!" (Kyoka) Day 5 - Evening - "I REALLY want to speak with Shizuka, NOW!" (Shizuka) Future - Snow Drop Field - "I hold her tightly - I'll never lose Shizuka again!" (although it seems you get the same responses for the other choice too) An end screen, but no song or credits. SHIZUKA - TRUE ENDING Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, up to Day 4 Morning in the Lodge. The only differences between how you get this ending and "Shizuka - Normal Ending" is going to the Lounge instead of the Kitchen on Day 4 Morning, and going to the Hot Springs for Evening #3 instead of the Lounge. Day 4 - Morning - Kitchen (Shizuka is a bad cook) Day 4 - Morning - Lounge (Shizuka and Keika talking) Day 4 - Slopes #1 - Beginner (Keika, go in woods) Day 4 - Slopes #2 - Expert (Kyoka, hot springs, spaced out in Lounge) Day 4 - Evening #1 - Shizuka's Room (Shizuka & Honami H) Day 4 - Evening #2 - My Room (Honami offers herself) Day 4 - Evening #3 - Lounge (Kyoka & Shizuka talking) Day 4 - Evening #4 - My Room (Kyoka clothed on top) Day 5 - Evening - "I want to speak with Shizuka!" (Kyoka) Day 5 - Evening - "I REALLY want to speak with Shizuka, NOW!" (Shizuka) Future - Snow Drop Field - "I hold her tightly - I'll never lose Shizuka again!" (although it seems you get the same responses for the other choice too) This time you'll get the end song and credits. KYOKA - BAD ENDING Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, up to Day 4 Evening #1. Day 4 - Evening #1 - Shizuka's Room (Shizuka & Honami H) Day 4 - Evening #2 - My Room (Honami offers herself) (Evening #3 and #4 can be anything) Day 5 - Evening - "I want to speak with Shizuka!" (Kyoka) Day 5 - Evening - "Make love to her because Shizuka is within Kyoka." (Kyoka) This is the last of three bad endings where you certainly stop living, but this time you have the best idea why. KYOKA - NORMAL ENDING Follow the "Shizuka - Normal Ending" above, until the fifth Day 5 Evening choice, and then pick Kyoka ("I want to see the REAL Kyoka!"). An end screen, but no song or credits. Also missing the hot springs sex with Kyoka seen in the Kyoka true ending. You could also do what's in the PeaPri walkthrough: Follow the "Kyoka - True Ending" below, except replace Day 4 Evening #4 with Lounge instead of My Room. And still choose Kyoka. KYOKA - TRUE ENDING Follow the "Peace - Ending" above, up to Day 4 Slopes #2. Day 4 - Evening #1 - Shizuka's Room (Shizuka & Honami H) Day 4 - Evening #2 - My Room (Honami offers herself) Day 4 - Evening #3 - Lounge (Kyoka & Shizuka talking) Day 4 - Evening #4 - My Room (Kyoka clothed on top) Day 5 - Evening - "I want to see the REAL Kyoka!" (Kyoka) Extra sex scene in the hot springs, and a strange partial possession of Kyoko. This time you get an end song and credits, but showcasing Kyoka. PHOTOSHOP PATCH The photoshop built into the game is rather good. It includes the H images of the girls, and also lots of special sequences including many of the sex scenes. The music is always all available, but you are supposed to see the images and sequences only after getting to them in the game. However, that's where I come in. The savedata/save00 file on your hard drive where you installed Snow Drop contains the flags that turn on the H images and the sequences. To set them yourself, you'll need the usual hex editor. Bytes 000 to 04F should be set in the pattern $01 00 01 00 ... Bytes 050 to 0C9 are all $01, 0CA to 135 are $01 00 repeating again, 136 to 18F are all $01, 190 to 271 are $01 00 repeating, 272 to 7CE are all $01, and the last byte at $7CF is $00. That should get you everything possible in the photoshop. But you'll still have to find all the endings and how to get the special events on your own. REVIEW This game came with the most complete and politically correct disclaimer that I have ever seen. It disgusts me that things have to be this way, but I think it shows a new level of maturity in this business. I'm also not a big fan of the graphics style used in the game, including the SD version of Honami on the back cover of the manual. But that's a matter of personal taste. Good story, but I gotta wonder about a guy who girls torment because he's a romantic, yet can make Keika orgasm six times before he does. Makes me want to come back as a Japanese guy in my next reincarnation. A good effort as an adult anime game in English. I like that the engine allows you to back up in the text, although it doesn't show the graphics that belong there. The translation had only a few minor glitches; PeaPri could have used one more pass by an editor fluent in English, and I think "asshole" is too strong a word for "baka." But worth buying if you liked X-change or True Love. Lots of replay value, although I think I would have gotten frustrated trying to get more than the easiest ending without a walkthrough. If you have anything to add to this file, let me know. Peter Karsanow - bishoujo.helper[AT}sbcglobal{DOT)net http://www.geocities.com/hentaihelper/p_hgames.htm
