This is a hint and patch file for the "PeroPero Candy" (PCAN, 
PEROPERO, PEROCAN) Windows Japanese adult anime game from Mink.

The game is distributed as 5 ZIP files. Unzip and run 
PEROPERO.EXE to install, then PCAN.EXE to play. You can then 
delete the PEROPERO.* files.

The game needs NJWIN or something similar to display the Japanese 
text, but only for the game window menu entries - the game's text 
is generated by the game without it. Sound and music support 
(voice and MIDI) is automatic. Graphics are 640*400 256-color 
VGA. Keyboard supported only for the game window options, 
otherwise mouse is used for everything by the game. Couldn't find 
a key to speed up text display! I could never get some of the 
internal dialogue boxes to display anything except horizontal 
lines instead of text - probably need Japanese Windows for that.

I might as well mention now that the game window menu options are 
only to exit the game or show an About box. Can't resize the 
window, only quit or minimize.

The game starts out with a dialogue box with 2 or 3 buttons. The 
bottom one will exit the game. The middle one, if it is present, 
will erase all your saved games (if you confirm with the top 
button on the next screen) and the directory they were stored in. 
The top button will, if you haven't done this before, let you 
choose a saved game directory (default is C:) but the game adds 
"\PCAN" to this anyway. So you could enter "H:\PEROPERO" here and 
the saved game files will be in "H:\PEROPERO\PCAN". Then the game 
will eventually show a splash screen and put you at an initial 
menu with two options: start new game, load saved game (no idea 
why the other 3 are there but blank).

Looks like you keep having fun with one girl until you get it 
right. Large amounts of text, with lots of good pictures. The 
usual censorship.

When you start a new game, you get several screens where you 
click to go on to the next. Thankfully, the text displays 
immediately, so you don't have to wait around for it to be 
displayed on the screen. Throughout the game, a left-click when 
there is a blinking box on the lower right corner of the text box 
will go on to the next text screen, and a right-click will hide 
the text box, and another right-click will restore it. You can 
always exit the game through the (F) menu. When you get to a 
screen with several extra boxes on the screen, it appears to be 
how you change the character names, just left-click to move on. 
You eventually end up at a screen with text and a bar with a "%" 
marking on the bottom. You will start from here (or the 
equivalent) each time you "go around again".

First you see a bunch of text, with 2 or 3 choices to be made 
every once in a while. To avoid accidentally making a choice you 
don't want, keep the mouse pointer up in the main graphics 
window, then move it down when you get red text. Highlight one 
line, then left click to select. Right click at any time to 
remove the frames and just see the graphics, and again to 
restore. You may notice the "%" value go up or down. Although up 
is better, unless you can read Japanese don't worry about it: 
during the sex sequences the % goes up and down too, although it 
tends to go up. If you play through a lot of possibilities, 
eventually it will top out at 100%.

When 2 boxes appear in the middle of the picture, you are being 
asked what sexual activities you want to do. You have a total of 
7 possible, but each one has 2 to 4 options. When you go through 
a complete sequence, then the last activity where you did all the 
options is highlighted, and as you get to see all the possible 
sequences, the highlighted ones start appearing earlier in the 
choice of activities. Think of it as marking paths you've been 
along already.
1. 3 choices: where you start
2. 2 choices: how you take off her clothes
3. 2 choices: a wierd thing you do with her then
4. 2 choices: modifies where you start
5. 2 choices: 69 or blowjob
6. 2, 3, or 4 choices: how you fuck
7. 2 or 3 choices: how you orgasm

Then you get 3 choices (once the box on the right is full):
Do them
Cancel all and pick again
Backup one to choose it again

Finally, you and girl do the things you selected. Sometimes the % 
goes up or down. Up is better!

Sometimes when you finish a sequence, you get special extra 
graphics, and eventually you get a long automatic sequence 
(probably when you get to 90%) where you go on a date and have 
sex, and then the photoshop turns on!

When done with your chosen activities, you get a scoreboard and 5 
options on a vertical menu. These are:
go around again
game options (change names, turn off music, others)
load/save (submenu: load, save)(second submenu: 4 slots plus 
   cancel)
PHOTOSHOP if enabled
quit game

At the bottom of the screen are 5 lines of status information. 
They are:
repeat of "satisfaction %"
% of sexy pictures seen so far
% of endings done
# of times you've gone around
score (so what)

The way to see all the sexy pictures, i.e. the photoshop, is to 
either play the game for long enough to get the long automatic 
sex sequence (over 90%) or you can use the following patch 
procedure:
1. Save the game, remember which slot you used. You'll have to 
   play the game at least once to get to the menu with the 
   load/save option.
2. The saved game data will be in the saved game directory 
   (default is C:\PCAN) as files "diary0" through "diary3"
3. Subtract one from the slot you used, go edit the corresponding 
   diary file (e.g. diary0 if you used slot 1).
4. Use a binary file editor (aka hex editor) to change the 
   contents of locations $640 through $809 (the end of the file) 
   to $01. It's overkill, but that guarantees you get all the 
   pictures and endings set.
5. You also need to set $0AC to $01 to turn on the photoshop 
   option.
6. Save the modified file.
7. Run PCAN.EXE and load that slot, or reload it if you ran the 
   editor with the game in the background.
8. The photoshop option should appear, and you can click on it to 
   get a screen with 8 buttons - the one on the right middle 
   exits. Click any other button to get up to 20 pictures, click 
   to advance.

In case you care, inside the saved game file the score is 2 bytes 
at $76, the satisfaction % is at $78, and the number of times 
around is at $64.
