This is a hint and cheat file for the adult anime DOS/V game "Marble" (also known as "Marble Cooking") from "Negative". It is usually distributed as 1 ZIP file which just needs to be unzipped in its own directory (just for neatness) before play. The game requires DOS/V or DOSJ to see the Japanese text, and some expanded (EMS) memory (512K?) to operate. DOSJ will need some extended memory too, and has only a few undefined level 2 symbols during the game. Run START.BAT or MARBLE.EXE (no sound) to start the game. The game has 640 by 480 16-color VGA graphics. Although it uses the exact same PMDIBM.COM file as several other games, it will usually hang during the PMDIBM load in START.BAT if I don't set the Windows 95 shortcut to "Suggest MS-DOS mode as necessary". None of the usual fixes seem to help. Just live with the annoying popup boxes. Sigh. Li Sun said: This is sort of arcade/strategy game. If you play the story mode, it's about a girl letting loose a demon and has to capture him. There are 7 stages to this game. As you progress through the 9 scenes in each stage, you get to see pictures of girls being, err, played with. This game is being played by pressing the Enter key to lay down a summon circle (nothing can touch her when she is inside a summon circle), then walk around to leave a trail of carrots. After that, press Enter key again to summon the rabbit-mouse to eat the carrots and any monster on the trail, moving onward after all the monsters are killed. All the menu except the continue/give up one is in English. This game seems to have an opening story about some technologically advanced girl summoning some sort of demon (well, its got a horn...), and getting a rabbit thing also. Use the "z", "x", "Esc", "Enter" or "space" keys to advance the text here. After that, you and the rabbit go through 7 stages, with 9 scenes each, of a simple near-real-time game, to get to an ending. 6 of the stages have pictures of 3 girls that start out clothed and quickly end up in various states of undress, with fluids all over. The last stage appears to have no pictures between completion of any of the 9 scenes, until you get to the end (finish Stage 7, Scene 9), where you get some ending sequence graphics. The menu options are almost entirely in English! The only Japanese text that you will see is in the "story" screens (press almost any key while printing to complete all printing quickly, and again to go to next screen), or after you run out of "girls" while playing. In that case, the top one lets you try again from a zero score, and the bottom one takes you to the main menu. You need to turn on the "Story" option to see the ending sequence graphics, but it makes it difficult to see the entire picture without a text box in the way. The simple game uses the "Enter" key and the 4 arrow keys. Press "Enter" to set a "pentagram" at your current location. After a pentagram is created, the girl leaves a trail of carrots when she moves. The scenes have obstacles and enemies. Each press of an arrow key moves you one box in that direction, except you can't walk over carrots, the pentagram, or into obstacles or enemies. Without her or the pentagram being touched by an enemy, you want to move such that the trail of carrots will include one or more enemies that the rabbit (that comes out of the pentagram and runs to the girl) will run over when you press "Enter" a second time. It sounds more complicated than it looks. There are many different kinds of enemies, but they either move in a set pattern, or respond in a programmed fashion to the girl's move. I didn't play ALL the scenes, so I'm not sure if any enemies deliberately go after the girl. If an enemy touches the girl, you lose. If the rabbit touches an enemy while running, the enemy turns into a "cookie" or something similar. You get bonus points for getting multiple enemies with a single rabbit. You get extra points for walking the girl over the "cookie" before it disappears in about 30 seconds. There is a high score table, but who cares! The girl is invulnerable while on the pentagram, but is vulnerable to any enemy while moving or waiting for the rabbit to finish running. While I didn't play ALL the scenes, I did a few, and some seem impossible! When you get stuck on one, please don't e-mail me for help. All I can suggest is to try the cheat/hack below. I've been informed that some enemies do indeed go after the girl: the green snakes go for the girl if they can (the scene I tested, they were stuck in one place until the girl got below them), and the totem-pole type guys go directly for the pentagram (when there is no pentagram, they don't move). The cheat/hack for this game is to (using a binary file editor) change the values in the first and third bytes ($00 and $02) of the file MARBLE.SYS to the values $07 and $09. This will signify to the game that you can do a "Continue" for any stage and scene, and enables the "Graphic Mode", both under "Options" at the main menu. The "Graphic Mode" is the game's Photoshop, although it doesn't include the pictures from the opening story, or the end of the game. All the other main menu options should be easy to figure out yourself. I'm surprised that hacking this game was that easy, considering some of the bizarre schemes I've seen before. But since I've never heard of "Negative" before, they're probably just starting. Good graphics and concept, guys! It's a shame they didn't do the entire thing in English as well... If you have anything to add to this file, let me know. Pete Karsanow - bishoujo.helper[AT}sbcglobal{DOT)net http://www.geocities.com/hentaihelper/
