This is mostly a quick review for "Diva-X Rebecca" from Pixis. Unlike 
the other titles from them that I've previously looked at, DXR has no 
pretensions of being a game. Rather, this series was marketed as 
something like a digital movie maker, similar to the Penthouse Virtual 
Photo Shoots.
The sampler provided with several other Pixis titles mentions 
"Diva-X 101" as an upcoming product. Diva-X became a live-action 
series rather than pure computer graphics. "Diva" apparently stood for 
"Digitally Implemented Virtual Actress", but by the time it got to 
the "Rebecca" release, the Diva acronym had been downplayed to just 
be part of the title.

You can play the movie files, which are all .AVI in this title, with a 
Windows Media Player. They're all in the DIVA1 directory on the 
disc. None of them are really hidden, but the Diva-X interface can 
make it time-consuming to see everything. Because the Media Player 
that I have doesn't support fast forward or rewind, just jumping, 
you're actually better off watching HOTEL.AVI within DXR. That 
particular little movie is almost half the disc, and is better sex 
than most of what's in the interactive portion of DXR.
Maybe it's me, but I found it difficult to get the smooth movement 
out of the interactive portion of DXR that I was expecting. Basically 
what you get is the mouse movement or position triggering the display 
of certain frames in a short sequence. For me, it usually comes out 
really jumpy. So, I quickly got disappointed with the primary draw for 
this title. The game developer, A. Gomez of Spooey Games, suggests 
that you try turning down your mouse sensitivity if it jumps too much.


The non-interactive "pickup & hotel sex" and out-takes movies, and 
the semi-interactive slideshow, were done rather well. I'd expect that 
the longevity of the series, with Internet downloads added to the 
process, means that Pixis has continually refined their ability to 
provide a better "advanced cybersex simulator". But I like more play 
in something that has hopes of telling a story, and I put the DXR box 
away after only a few hours. If you like this kind of thing, it's one 
of the first (if not the very first) in the series. If you don't, 
here's your hint to try something else.
