"Dragonia" is an "AnimePlay" DVD from Hirameki. As they advise, this can be played on a PC, but you may be better off with a DVD player (including game consoles like PS2 or Xbox) instead. The chief benefit of playing this on a PC is being able to use a mouse to enter the password codes that are this product's version of a saved game, instead of putting them in by DVD remote. I have difficulty in calling Dragonia a game, due to the few choices given to a player; it's a rather sparse choose-your-adventure with continuity issues and lacking in the graphics that should have made this worthy of a DVD. More review at the end of this text file. The "Lovely Anime Girls" disc that's packaged with "Dragonia" is about 100 images that are packaged as both individual pictures (thumbnail display) and a slideshow. They're all also in one (some in two) of 10 Windows screen saver programs, which you have to find by navigating the disc folders yourself. There are also 16 .BMP files suitable for Windows desktop background images; probably not work-safe though. None of these are explicitly H, but few of the girls look old enough to have their panties on display. This one isn't a game, and there's no information on where the images came from, but there are several images for some of the girls so it's quite possible these are from other bishoujo games. SPOILER WARNING! (skip down to "SPOILERS COMPLETED" if you like) Dragonia Walkthrough: Sit through events that make no sense at first, until you get to the New Game / Continue menu. I'm going to skip most descriptions of what happens, just to avoid too many spoilers and keep this file short. Choose Continue to be able to enter a password, which will jump to a preset point in the story. Your first password is XLAGSSIBC. It happens just before the first choice in the game, regarding Jamka. The second choice "Accept Jamka's request" will get you what actually sounds like a good result, but ends the game quite prematurely. So, if you want to see the rest of the material on the disc, pick the first choice "Decline Jamka's request". When Ryu talks to Bectel is the next choice. If you take the top choice, you don't (officially) receive the item that you would get for the bottom choice. For the bottom one, "sword of a phantom was got" (sic). But the sword item will appear when you need it in a battle regardless, so that choice doesn't really matter, I guess. With the top choice, you can spot the "music box" graphic in the background that Fiana will show Ryu later. Either way, you get some background information and the second password eventually appears: RQDJSZVBA. While in the town, you have several choices to make. Most of them don't actually matter (starting to see a pattern?), except for the chance to trigger one ending. To get the most background information from Tran, I think you can choose the top choice, then top again, and you'll still get to the quiz. Don't worry about missing the quiz, all that it does is provide an opportunity to see another ending if you answer any one of the four questions wrong. The correct answers for the quiz are: Trachista (top), Noal (top), Princess Fiana (bottom), The Millenial Festival (bottom). Get any wrong, and there's an ending where Ryu ends up eventually owning Morgan and Company, but this is again considered a bad ending. OK, so you either aced the quiz or skipped it entirely. No matter, you get to the next password of LMBOPNAYU. Now comes the terrifically important and not-so-random coin flip choice. All that "Heads" (top) gets you is avoiding a choice in battle later. For "Tails" (bottom), you will have to make a choice of using your item (the game is actually nice at this point and flashes a picture of the sword to remind you, although having "Use the Phantom Sword" would have avoided that) before fighting, or not. Note that you get this choice even if you didn't receive the sword from Bectel. OK... But if you "Don't use the item", Ryu dies, which is a bad ending. Well, assuming you got past that part, eventually you end up at another password: CXETIHWFE. Then wander a maze of twisty little passages, all alike. Pick "Right" or "Left" up to 5 times to end up either in a dead end (the game will back you up so you must choose the other direction), out in the woods (this is another bad ending apparently; the world appears to end in fire, not ice, but Ryu looks more buff due to 10 years of putting up with Fiana), or at the hidden dragon temple. I got to the "outside" by choosing Left, Left, Right (Left is to dead end), Left, Left. To the temple is Left, Left, Right, Left, Right. I don't know what happens for the other choices, besides that one dead end that I mentioned; there are probably other dead ends. According to MitchellTF on the Hirameki BBS, Right Left Right gets you to the temple fast. Anyway, the next choice is in the temple. Pick the top one ("Force Tran") for no immediate difference, but Tran will show up at Rapan's place later. Otherwise, pick the bottom one ("Go ahead") and Tran won't be seen again until the final battle. It doesn't seem to matter. Either way, wait to get your only peek of a naked girl in this whole "game". Too bad you don't actually see anything. From seeing similar situations in too many other bishoujo games or OVA's, especially hentai ones, you might expect things to go a certain way, and they just don't. Definitely bishoujo without the hentai. There's another choice involving the purple guy, so either "Talk to Rapan" (top) or "Talk to Jamka" (bottom). Pick Rapan, and Ryu decides to become a doctor but Tran dies; bad ending in that case. So pick Jamka to keep this story on track. Eventually, there's another password: TEGJPVYQS. And right after that, "Ring of Fire was got" (sic). No explanation, because Grandpa doesn't appear anymore, but it sounds important. Wait for it, and you'll get to the final choices of your travels: "Fight" (top) or "Run" (bottom). If you choose "Fight", there's an additional choice to use the Ring of Fire or not. Here's how they generate the last 3 endings: Fight & Use Ring of Fire = Ryu wins Fight & Don't use the item = Ryu loses Run = Orbs leave, everybody (except Hadele?) laughs All three of these endings have a "To Be Continued", but the middle one seems to be a bad one. And this one, after a neat retro TV scene, makes you stare at a black screen and listen to bad rock for over a minute. Then it shows you a credits scroll just like the other two endings from this final battle. And your reward for finishing? The same "New Game/Continue" screen. When you reach the first 5 of the endings, an "END" screen is shown. On the last 3 endings, there is (eventually for #6) a credits crawl. Either way, eventually you just go back to the main menu with the New/Continue choice. No omake (bonus) for finishing AFAIK. Known endings: 1. Accept Jamka's request -> make lots of money in Jerard (bad) 2. (fail quiz) -> eventually own Morgan and Company (bad) 3. "Don't use the item" in snow -> Ryu dies (bad) 4. (miss Water Temple) -> 10 years after (bad) 5. Talk to Rapan -> Dr. Ryu, Tran dies (bad) 6. (final battle) Run -> orbs ascend (good) 7. (final battle) Fight (then) Use Ring of Fire -> Ryu wins (good) 8. (final battle) Fight (then) Don't use the item -> Ryu loses (bad) Note that the last three all show "To Be Continued", but for the middle one of those there's a long stretch (after a neat retro TV scene) of black screen and annoying music before the credit scroll. MitchellTF posted a draft walkthrough on the Hirameki BBS, which was helpful to me in finding a quick route to the temple and one of the bad endings. An expanded version may show up on GameFAQs site someday. Mari-chan posted on the Hirameki BBS that an additional password is GOODJAPZK, which occurs while resting in Kabal just before acquiring the Ring of Fire. And that her directions to the temple were Left, Right, Right, Left, Right. MitchellTF confirms the GOODJAPZK, but it looks like there may be 2 more endings... SPOILERS COMPLETED ------------------ Review: Animation is noticeably lacking in mouth and body movements; the only motion is via background flipping, zooms, pans and flame/lightning/rain effects. While the character drawings are reasonably good, there are very few for each character and they are too obviously re-used. And nearly all the backgrounds, although obviously hand-drawn, look unfinished. I got the feeling that a crew of anime artists were called in to give this a professional look, and got taken off the job too soon. Voice is only in Japanese, but subtitles are in English. Quite a few typos and grammar mistakes in the subtitles, but I've seen much worse before. The King is one of the most annoying characters (and voices) ever. Some continuity problems (Gyhald=Jerard, Roi/Roy) and Engrish ("Ring of Fire was got") that should have been caught by a final proofreader. Except for one shot of Princess Fiana bathing that doesn't really show anything, and her strange travelling outfit, there's nothing adult in this product and no romance between any of the characters. Replay value only in the sense of trying to get all the endings. Very limited character interaction and practically no growth in the relationships of any of them as the story progresses. It feels short and looks unfinished even for a DVD; this would have been acceptable only as an outline for a PC title that aspired to be anything more than a short fantasy adventure. There's an annoying delay when the choices are shown as an image, and then either a password screen is shown or the choices finally become "live" with a movable cursor. I bought it to support Hirameki and own one of everything, but I'm disappointed that this was the first of their titles that I finally found the time to play. I got through 4 endings in one night, and returned for a second session only to look for other endings (I stopped at a total of 8). Lovely Anime Girls helps to take away the disappointment that I felt after Dragonia, but I'm hoping this is not the best that Hirameki can do. If you have anything to add to this file, let me know.
