the silent spring - DDT and dangerous chemicals
one first thought that DDT was an excellent
weed-killer.
but in 1962 rachel carson wrote the book - the silent spring -,
that made clear how dangerous DDT was.
- the silent spring - referred to the total silent, that
emerged after DDT. it was not only the weed, that had
died, but also all other forms of life, on the fields that
had been sprayed with DDT.
after that DDT was forbidden, as one of the most dangerous
chemicals.
in european union one sends out a bigger and bigger
amout of chemicals. and many of them, are not all
to well tested. or is offen left to the firm itself,
to test new chemicals, without any further control.
so it is probably just a question of time, before
new DDT-scandals emerge, with unknow
consequences for the environment.
