sharon was the responsible politician, as defense-minister, for the massacre on the palestinians in the fugtitiv-camps sabra and shatila.

the massacre happened in 1982. and lasted for more than two days. the massacre was executed by libanisian falangists. but the whole area was under control by the israelian army. at least 800 palestinians were killed.

israel started to investegate the case by a commision. the strongest criticismen was against sharon. but he did not retire. he was given another minesterial office.

a man like sharon should not, after such a case, have been apart of israelic democraty. he has by his brutal militant behavoir, ruined the peaceprocess, and escaled the political situation to a nearly unsolvable level. he nearly started a war against the palestinians with his tancs, and the democratic leader arafat could not do anything about it.

one could hope that sharon would come to his senses, and resign. and leave the seat to a more moderat leader like perez. so the peaceprocess can get started again.
