guernica is a city in spain, who hitlers aeroplanes bombed (probably to test a new kind of bombs) with francos permission. it happend on the 26 of april 1937. guernica was from old times the basques holly city.

picasso was inspired by the massacre, to paint the famous picture - guernica - , that describes all the horror, death and terrify, that the bombs caused.

for more than three hours at least 20 planes bombed the city systematicly to peaces, with more than 100.000 pound of high-explosiv bombs.

it was in the middle of the civil war in spain. the fascists under franco wanted to take over the power from the democratic government. and the city was bombed even though it was declared open city.
