he has studied in england from 1962 - 66, where he studied thelogy. in 1976 he became bishop in lesotho.

he spoke about the black peoples situation. about oppression and apartheid.

through books and travels abroad, he preached reconsiliation among the conflicting parts in southafrica.

for his struggle against apartheid he has recieved the nobel peaceprize in 1984.

Desmond Tutu was elected archbishop in cape town in 1986.
