Delivering Flowers for Mom
Well, it started out as a nice day. We had teacher appreciation week, so today was spa day. Since one of my classes cancelled, I had the chance to go to the media center and get pampered with hand treatment, neck warmer, vibrating bed, foot massage and fresh fruit with chocolate fountain. (I never can eat stuff with chocolate without making a mess.)
But anyway, I needed to deliver my artwork, a mixed media painting with three dimensional driftwood and flower, ("Flowers for Mom") to the north PBCC campus for a teacher exhibit next week. I tried to upload a photo, but for some reason, the website thinks its too big. Oh well.
Went home, walked the dog, got my canvas and left in my car to take the quick route over the Southern flyover. Ha. Today some gravel truck overturned in some accident and it took an hour to go two miles because they were still scraping gravel up with the truck sideways on two lanes and emergency vehicles on both sides. You know how it is when you squeeze four lanes to one.
Well, that was fine, but I was running low on gas. Plenty to get me there, unless you are not moving and running the A.C. because its 90 degrees out. No, I didn't run out of gas, but close.
As I got to the campus, I had to find the building, which involved a bit of round about and searching out. I did find it before they were ready to go home.
Fortunately, I had a gift card for a gas station, so I used that and it was like getting gas for free, which it was. Gift card.
By now I figured I would stop by my sister to drop off a gift for her 30th wedding anniversary. Traffic was slow on the way back, but thankfully, uneventful.
Afterwards, I went past the mall and decided to get my free Chick Fil A sandwich with a strawberry milkshake thrown in. Whipped cream and cherry? Of course! Not bad since I only had to pay for the milkshake.
From the looks of things at the mall, the recession has not hit or people are using credit. Its such a great place for people watching. I am noticing a trend of decorated back pockets on jeans. I think I am going to stitch a decoration on the back of one of my jeans. It fun to get back into sewing again. Last night I made progress on stitching together a cover for my new wheelie cart to drag around my face painting supplies. I also bought a file folder for the stencils and am going to use my jewelry holder for......jewelry. I decided that its not functioning well as a stencil holder.
Well, its Friday and 17 more days of children. The weather is lovely and there is a full moon tonight. (which explains the behavior of the students.) Yes, there is a scientific correlation between increased silliness and the full moon. Any teacher can tell you when there is a full moon without looking outside.
I plan to go to bed slightly earlier tonight, as I have an early morning tomorrow. The Race for the Arts is at the park and I am helping. That means show up at 5:30 am, otherwise known as O'dark early o'clock.
Afterwards, a shower, a nap, some shopping at Ikea and gallery tour in Miami. Probably the last before summer break. Ahh, looking forward to summer.
Sunday is Mother's Day, so I think this mother is going to the movies and see the new Star Trek. I will make it so!
