One busy artful week

Last week I started with a reception at the ArtServe location where they are showing the eagles and also had a reception of air and sea landscapes art work in conjunction with the Air and Sea show.

I took Penni and kids because John was working late and then I wouldn't have to go by myself. It was kinda busy, and there were snacks, but not much. No free drinks (not water, soda or adult bev.) so I bought a water to share with Penni and Hannah, and a white something for myself. Wore my lovely pink Dana Buchman dress, which is really suited for cooler weather. was a little warmmmmm.

Friday, I went to a VIP reception aboard the USS Kearsarge, which was really nice. Champagne flowed freely, there were helicopters and planes to look at, paratroopers and planes flew overhead, there was a fife and drum corps in Revolutionary garb, and flag patrol. Then there were four kinds of dinner food, open bar, and speeches, and music.

Couldn't get off til the 21 gun salute, which is loud when it coming from a very close source. Then they loaded up the platform elevator, so we could go down and exit. I don't know how the ladies in skirts and high heels managed, as there were two steep ramps to walk up to enter) and down on the way out. Took me an hour to get home.

Saturday, I was committed to face paint at our barbeque at church, as we are celebrating the 50th anniversary. I did about 20 kids and tried out my new Snazaroo face paint, because it is far superior to Palmer face paint. I needed some practice and was quite happy with the way they turned out.

Sunday we went to the Air and Sea Show in Ft. Lauderdale.

Took sister Anne and we spent the day. We had preferred seating, which was not a great thing. It was free for me, but you had to walk a ways to get to it, and then you couldn't visit the other vendors because they were too far away and behind a fence.

We had food vendors by us, if you don't mind $5. for a hamburger and $4 for the fries, $4. for a bottle of water. Good thing I brought my own, or I would have been bankrupt staying hydrated. Anne paid for the food, so for her $20. we got breakfast, dinner (single sandwich) and a bottle of water with two free glasses of ice.

If we do this again, we will bring frozen water bottles, bigger towel, and umbrella.

Fortunately, we had sunscreen, and hats. It was warm under the seating area roof, but better on the beach.

Stayed home Sunday night, took a shower and rested.

Now we are counting the days til school is over, and I take off to see Ali before she has the baby.

While I was on the Kearsarge, I sat in a helicopter. Pretty cool.
