I Voted! Early

As I was thinking over my duties next week, it occurred to me that I might be running late if I waited to vote til Tuesday, because even with getting out of school early, I might still be late for my 5:30 class, so I thought, I can vote early! They're open til 7! Let's see, tomorrow I need to be ready to paint faces by 4 at LWC, Sat. morning I am getting the oil changed at church, Sunday we have combined service with dinner, and no early voting on Monday. The Sat. and Sunday hours are only 10 - 2, which does not work. Guess that leaves today, but still needed to get gas and groceries to make food for Sunday dinner and Monday book club.
This explains why I got to the voting place at 5:45. Not a great time to go, but planning ahead is not really my thing. Memo to self while standing in line: next time the election is this popular, bring book to read, snacks, bug spray (it got dark while waiting), maybe phone for pizza delivery, (did I mention from the time I lined up til the time I voted, it took just over two hours?
I did occupy myself talking to son in law, and finally daughter on the phone and comparing the weather in Texas to ours. I think it was the first time voters that slowed things down. Well, no, it was because it has been like this every day, according to the election people. Though the first time voters don't stay in the voting booth very long. Just long enough to vote for Santa Claus and go. The ones ahead of me didn't seem to know how to vote for other stuff like amendments, and one person even had to be reminded that they weren't allowed to talk to anyone.
Memo to self - next time get an absentee ballot and mail it in!
