Good Friday, Easter morning

I have the day off today, its Good Friday, which is just a holiday for the school system. Next Friday we have teacher workday, and a technology conference that day also, which is usually pretty awesome. They have good speakers, lots of free stuff from vendors, door prizes, and sometimes people win really good stuff, like Blackberry's and laptops. Not me.
We are in the winding down phase of school - FCAT's are over and the kids can relax now and stop studying for the test. However, there are two more weeks til Spring break and the natives are restless. They have had their schedules adjusted for two weeks, they have their report cards and spring hormones and spring fever are definitely abounding. The trick for me is to get all the clay fired and passed out beforeĀ field trips and end of year interfere. I had to do some repairs, silly me forgot my own rule about only one grade level doing clay at a time and I had about 16 or so classes worth of dry pieces waiting to get loaded in the kiln. They get pretty fragile while drying, so I had my cup of slip handy to glue parts together before firing. The last load must have fired a little too fast or some of the pieces were not as dry as they should have been, because I had a couple of fatalities. Tacky glue and pieces put together, its a lot like a puzzle, except for the one that was just in pieces. Those kids have to just make another one, or I have to forge a counterfeit part that they might not notice. Stuff looks a lot different after its fired.
But, its Spring, Easter is this weekend and life is good. Christ is risen, which we need to remember each day. I am trying to show more compassion and kindness, because I know people that might not be Christians, but they are showing more kindness than I feel some days. I am hoping some friends of mine come to church Sunday, other wise, I will continue to talk to them.
Things to finish up this month: Get more sponsors for Walk for Life form, get art work together for school wide art show, finish firing all the clay pieces, practice face painting and put more photos on the web site.
A garage sale would be good too, to minimize my stuff here at home. Some things I wll just give away, like the various Veggie Tale videos that no one watches that I could put in the church library.
Okay, I am going to get a box and load it up with Bob and Larry and assorted video.
And tomorrow is Saturday, I can mow the lawn! Yesterday I chopped a bunch of branches off the shrubbery because progress to the back yard was impeded by attack of the jungle greenery. I really hate those ficus bushes, but I am stuck with it because its between the neighbor and me. But at least the garbage took care of the two cans full this morning. Next is the weed and feed. Okay, another boring post. Life is a lot like that, routine and mundane and things that are necessary to stave off chaos. But all work is good work, when its done to the glory of God.
Next week I am going to take a trip to Miami for ArteAmericas, sponsored by Merrill Lynch. Maybe they will have some good wine and cheese. It will also be fun to see art as interpreted by Latin Americans, because its Miami! Wonder what I shall wear.
My latest endeavors involve decorating flip flops with jewelry or jewels. I am giving up on heels.
