Open window day!
photo
You know the weather in Florida is changeable, and thats one of the fun things about living here. Yes, I know the other parts of the country got blizzards and snow, which means sometimes we get a cold spell here too! We go from really warm in the afternoon, I-am-so-hot-after-my-walk, to really chilly that night, like I-need-a-long-coat-to-walk-the-dog. Today it was cold, I wore a sweater to church with my long coat. Getting up at 7, I was prepared to be warm. Of course, I should have figured by 11, when I went over to the children's church, I was getting a little warm, especially working with 12 kids. Lots of fun. Most of them were really good, patient and waiting for materials. There was one girl I had to watch, you know, the kind that color on their hand and the table, and their neighbor's paper if they can get to it.

But, we had fun and kept busy as well as learn a lesson about Jesus coming into Jerusalem on a donkey, the Triumphal entry. Sort of like a parade, which they could relate to, especially the girls that told me about the parade at Disneyworld. Which they saw twice.

But I digress. The title said something about open window day. In Houston there was a columnist (Bert Bacharach's father, if you know who that is) who used to announce when it was open window day. In the Spring, the first nice day the tradition was to turn off the heat, open the window, take a breath of air, close the window, turn on the A.C. In the Fall, you did the reverse.  Well, yesterday was gorgeous, I had the door and sliding glass window open, and there was a nice breeze blowing through. So nice I could watch the dust bunnies blow across the room, and I had to latch the door open or it would slam shut, which tended to scare the kitty cat that was sitting in the porch enjoying the sunshine. By afternoon, it had gotten chilly, so close the door, close the window, enjoy the fresh air and go back to normal. Not only do we enjoy the breeze, but its amazing how the sunlight really shows up the dust and dirt on your floor.

I am sure we will be back to A.C. soon enough. For now, I am enjoying the breeze and sunlight on my walks to school. Walking also gives me time to think, pray and just look at stuff, like nature. The only hazards are sprinklers on watering days, and people walking dogs or occasional garbage trucks, but they are not what I would call hazards.

On the way back, I have my trusty parasol which doubles as umbrella for showers or sunshade when the sun comes out. And both will happen within a 15 minute time span. I haven't lost much weight yet, but I definitely feel better and sleep better.

Except tonight might be a challenge since I took a nice nap to recover from time change and pre K sunday school.

Yes, I know the photo may not relate, but Hibiscus are so pretty and they are so typical Florida.
