Downsizing and thinking economically
I have been thinking of ways to save money and spend less, so I can save more. As in future retirement money or savings for emergencies. I read that if you pay with cash, you will spend less. Well, I got my B.J.'s membership back as I really don't need to shop at warehouse clubs, so that was $45.00. I spent 20. at Walmart for supplies for facepainting, like a plastic tote to keep supplies clean, some other sundries. I have been noting these expenditures in a notebook. Then I spent 2. on tea at Starbucks, not coffee, went to dinner after church at Pei Wei, (10.) and had some good fellowship with some other single ladies. Worth the time and money.
I am also walking to school instead of driving. Its about 2 mi. one way if I drive, but only a mile if I walk because I can go thru a residential area that comes out by the school from a different direction. (only 15 minutes) The benefit is I arrive with roses in my cheeks and in a good mood. (The weather was cool) I think I will bring my radio or CD player also.
And when the time changes next week, I guess I may need a flashlight as well.
I have also been buying gas in $10. increments which forces me to evaluate whether each trip is worth the expense. Gas here is about 3.20 a gallon, but I still make the same salary since August. That means do I really need to go to Tampa this month when I will be there in April? Do I really need to go to Miami to look at art? In fact, I may walk to church as well, since its only a mile and half. Thats probably 20 minutes at a good clip. Hmm, probably have to carry my dress shoes, and Bible and sunday school materials in a backpack. I just signed on to do Pre-K during second service. Well, I'm sure it could be done. Think about that next week. In the dark.
Next item on the list is to list some items on Ebay. There's cash to be found in those cluttered rooms! Further updates later.
