Vacation is over - for now
Well, it was a whirlwind Thanksgiving - Tuesday I drove the dog to Tampa, and caught the early flight to Houston. Weather was cool, and got colder, wet, drizzling. Just like I remembered it.
We did some baking, cooking, cleaning, etc. Dinner was great, though the turkey always takes longer than you think. I think it was done, since there wasn't any more pink juice running out. Ali had some friends over and they brought pie, cheesecake, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and we had all the usual good stuff.
After dinner, we made our battle plans for the next day - Why are the stores opening at 4 am?
Friday, we left at 3:30, hit Penney's and got our snow globes. Right over to Kohls, where we decided we had too much to do to wait in the check out for two hours, which was what it looked like. Did a few more stores, and were finished by 8 am. Things just really slow down after 7, but we did well and got some essentials. Suitcase set, Ott light, snow globe!, but did not need a $400. laptop. That meant that we did not need to wait at midnight to be first in line, since they only have a small amount per store.
It was a little colder than shopping here in Florida, but at 4 am, its cold anywhere.
I flew out Sunday pm, but had time to go to church first. I cut it a little close, as the check in and security lines were longer than usual. And I think I lost my baggie with liquids somewhere after security. But it was only half a bottle of foundation and some hand lotion. Lets see, I had my purse, boarding pass, license, phone, bunny coat, shoes, carry on bag, hmmm. I guess it didn't get back in. But then, I was a little rushed. Fortunately, the gate was not too far, and I outpaced the pilot getting to my gate.
The flight was a bit of a thrill ride, the first half hour was bumpy! The flight attendants had to hang on to the cart, and had help from some other attendents and pilots that were riding along. I never did get my coffee, as they "had to suspend service, due to turbulence. Please return to your seat and keep your seat belt buckled!"
On the positive side, there was no one in my row, and I had three seats to myself. I chose the middle, which kept my feet out of danger of carts and hot coffee.
It was a good trip anyway, and after arriving in Tampa, walking the dog, transferring luggage to my car, making a cup of coffee, I still was home by 10 pm.
Maybe I will get to bed a little earlier tonight. Maybe.
