Well, the day finally came! Ali's baby decided it was time, especially as she could share her birthday with Johnny Depp! We went over to the birthing center (in the morning), which has its own bedroom with jacuzzi included. Labor took til 3 pm, then things moved quickly and a nice water birth in the tub followed. She weighed 8lb 8oz and has a nice round head and lovely features. She will probably be well protected by her two brothers. Everybody went home after about 4 hours and they are now trying to get some rest. I guess we will all sleep in tomorrow.

The birthing center was a great experience, as nobody was rushed, and after the birth no one was in a hurry to weigh, wash, blanket and put under a lamp. The baby was wrapped in a towel, and Daddy held her for a while, then she was put next to mommy (who is as warm as a heat lamp) for feeding, then after awhile, she got checked out and weighed and diapered. Daddy got to hold her for about an hour, and the brothers got to check her out too. They are quite excited. The older one is very helpful and the younger one is not sure what will happen.
