Thoughts from your favorite blonde...
My dog sleeps too much - at the wrong time
Jane must be sleeping too much during the day. When its time to sleep at night, which means me, she jumps on my bed and then walks around panting and whining, looking for her favorite toy. This makes me nuts, so I turn on the light, find her nasty stuffed duckie, and give it to her, hoping she will lay down and go to sleep. No luck. Still walking around, sniffing, rooting in the sheets. Finally, after a cat also finds her favorite spot, things settle down.

I know she is sleeping too much, because when I come home, Jane is settled on the top of the couch, looks at me, and after a moment registers that I am home. Yaay, excitement, lets go for a walk. Which means, sniff, sniff, walk, stop, sniff. If I am looking for exercise, I may as well walk by myself.

This morning I got a chance to do that, as I rose at 5 am and went downtown to where we had Race for The Arts, to benefit Fine Arts in the schools. I carried our school arts banner, and found my barricade to guard.

Silly me thought the race started at 7. About 7:10 three guys trotted by, then a couple of girls who turned around. They were just warming up.

These 5 actually were in the lead. Later, many more came running by. The ones in the lead glide by easily. As the racers are more toward the end, they breathe heavier, and run more slowly. On the way back, they are more sweaty and red faced. But I guess they had fun! There were free pancakes, coffee, donuts and bagels when we got back.

The weather was great for running, overcast (from smoke and haze) and cool. The sun didn't get warm til about 9:30 long after everyone finished running, walking and stroller pushing.

I went home, showered and took a nap. Think I will go south and check out art galleries tonight.
