Our first competition took place on the 27th of April, and nobody quite knew what to expect. In the first match, pre-tournament favourites, Naughty Corner, took on All Blacks. This was a team which hadn't played together before, and, unfortunately, they had a very difficult first game! They tried hard all day, but could only get one point.
Juventus also played well, but couldn't score! In their four games only one goal was scored- by the opposition! If only they had read the rules more closely...
Winner Six started off very well, winning their first three games (including the match against Naughty Corner), but the real surprise package was Arab Team. After a win and two draws in their first three games, they surprised everyone and beat Winner Six in their final group stage game with a fantastic long range strike. This goal also meant that Naughty Corner couldn't make the final.
The final game was between Winner Six and Arab Team. Winner Six had most of the play and produced most of the chances, but they couldn't find the important goal. It looked like the tournament would be decided by penalties, when finally Arab Team found the back of the net from another long range shot!
Our first competition ended in a surprise victory for Arab Team, but, in the end, they fully deserved to win:

Tony's choice for player of the tournament was the playmaker for Winner Six, Kevin (Xiaodong Zhu).
