| Lawsonia Inermis is the botanical name for henna; It is a tropical shrub. Henna is an ancient body art that has been used to adorn women since ancient times it has several different names: mehndi in hindi, kurpos in egyptian, and al-hinna in arabic. It has been used in India, Africa and the Middle East for more than 5000 years, and now has become a part of our modern history. It's use originated in the Middle East and North Africa, and was brought to India in the 12th century by egyptian moghuls. As people later migrated to other countries, henna traditions were carried with them. The art form of henna application varies from one religion to the next, with the varying designs meaning different things to each culture. The application of henna has four distinct benefits known as "the four c's" It cools, conditions, cleanses and colors the skin and hair. Traditionally henna is used to decorate hands and feet for during wedding and other ceremonies. I use only 100% Natural Henna. |
