WIMBLEDON
FINAL - 8TH JULY 2001
After waiting
until Sunday to finally get on centre court due to rain delays on Saturday,
Justine lost to Venus Williams in this 3 set match. The second set gave
us hope when Justine came back into the match to win the set beautifully,
but sadly Williams just played better on the day and there was no stopping
her in the final set. Rain stopped play just once for 15 minutes. Justine
said she hoped to come back next year and win. The final result was 6-1
3-6 6-0
The Daily
Express reported..."It was a great moment for me to come back in
the second set," said Henin. "But it was difficult after that
because mentally she was stronger than me, she had the experience that
I did not have. Her serve was unbelievable all the match. I think it is
amazing on a grass court. It was so fast with a lot of precision. I think
she can win Wimbledon a lot with a serve like that."
