| S6.3 Identifies and uses technology resources that affirm diversity. Reminiscent of the one-room school house, teachers are faced with a classroom of a diverse population of learners. Todays classrooms, although age-grouped, consist of an abundance of different learning abilities. The success of education depends on the teachers ability to plan appropriate lessons for the classroom. The Instructional Models and Strategies presented in EDUC 6630 provide the teacher with the foundation of effective teaching tools (Silver, H. F., Hanson, J. R., Strong, R. W., & Schwartz, P. B, 2003). Utilizing methods that will satisfy the needs of all learners is an important goal of education. A lesson using a strategy such as the Graduated Difficulty Strategy provides instructional material that ranges over varied levels of difficulty (Canter & Associates , 1996). This strategy provides opportunity for the student success at their own pace (Silver, H. F., Hanson, J. R., Strong, R. W., & Schwartz, P. B, 2003). In the development of a lesson using this strategy, the teacher fulfills the need to recognize and plan for diverse learners. |
