Electric Echoland Outtakes would be a more appropriate title for this release. Another LP-CD transfer, the compiler of this set added reverb/echo to the channels to give the tracks some depth.
A little reverb can do some amazing things sometimes, but here it's overused to the point of distraction. As for the actual songs, there are some decent tracks here.
The first, an instrumental backing track of Have You Ever Been To Electric Ladyland is similiar to what is on the Loose Ends album/CD. Angel is Jimi demo-ing the song in his apartment, just him and his unplugged guitar.
3 versions of 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be), always a welcome find. And the two takes of Valleys Of Neptune are also a nice treat.
And what has to be one of the strangest tracks, Taking Care Of No Business, featuring Jimi singing a bluesy-jazz vocal while a tuba(!) plays lead! Bizarre, but neat!
Quality is average overall, not great, but I have seen/heard worse. Maybe I had high hopes for this release, considering what album this came from, but I would tend to pass on picking this one up.
