hooked up the controller to the motors and connected the throttle to the controler.   spinning the tire with the throttle was much smoother than just directly connecting the battery.  with the smoother start up the chain did not snap up and hit the frame. 

i had to move the motor mount closer to the chain becuase i needed to get the sprockets up against the motors or else the bearings would wear out early like they did on my first bike.
