| This is the title page of the article Musclecar Review did on my 1970 Charger R/T back in Dec. 1986. It was cool getting her in a magazine. The following pages show the way I found her in about 1985. I paid $1800 for her then and I could have probably gotten her cheaper.. But, I wasn't going to haggle over this.. After all, she had front disc brakes !!!!!!! This journey started after I had finished restoring my '68 Charger I had had for a couple of years. Now, I wanted an original Mopar musclecar and a friend had a '69 Superbee 383 auto car for me to look at. When I got there, the 'Bee wasn't exactly what I thought it would be..... I had driven from South Florida to Knoxville, Tn, so, it wasn't around the corner. My friend took me over to this guy's house that at literally over 20 to 30 Mopar musclecars. I walked through the fields to come across 4-speed Charger R/T's, a factory lightweight Max-wedge car on a trailer, ragtop b-bodies and other e-bodies.. Again, it was the disc brakes that caused me to buy her. Back then, there wasn't anything about 1 of 1 and production numbers. I was surprised to find it was a "V" code car. At the time, I didn't even realize how uncommon she was. Boy, I do miss that car. She was my daily driver for over 3.5 years. I eventually passed on the daily driving tasks to a '69 Road Runner I bought in Dallas out of the autotrader for $1000, a running driving car.. I eventually was to trade her for my current 1968 Charger R/T equipped with a 426 HEMI / 727.. |
