What are Hematites main uses?
For industrial use, hematite is "used as a red pigment, and as a polishing compound (rouge).  In the jewelry world, hematite, when it occurs in a compacted or crystal form, is cut and faceted. "Loose earthy masses of hematite are often known as ochre red, and were used by the Indians for war paint. . . . today the same sort of material is obtained by powdering hematite and using it for red paint.
