Mini Money guide

When you start the game, no matter where you are, the most you can start out with is 50 gil (attained from the Adventurer Coupon given when you start). Your first chance at attaining gil comes in the form of fighting the Beastman type of monsters. These not only drop gil when defeated, but also valuble items for quests or to be sold to shops or the auction house. Also make sure that you always receive your Signet from your country's guards, this allows you to attain crystals when you defeat monsters, which sell nicely and make good money for an early adventurer. Your signet also allows you to attain beastman seal, which will be discussed alter on. Once you have a small amount of gil (somewhere between 1000 and 10,000 gil) you can "invest" your gil in shop items. By finding a shop that sells an item cheaper than it is sold on the auction house, you can make a small amount of profit for very minimal investment of time and/or money. The main reason this works is convience or ingnorance. People are either to pressed for time or too lazy to walk all the way to the shop that sells the particular item, or they don't realize that a shop sells the item they are looking for. Either way its easy gil early on, and its how I made my first 200k.

After you have reached level 20 or beyond, the real money making can begin. You can begin to "farm," a term that means killing many monsters lower level than you so that you can get many of the same item so you can sell it for profit. At level 20, you can only really farm in the lowest level monsters, but you can do the beastmen with relative ease, which tend to yield more profit than other monsters early on. Once you have reach a higher level, around 40-50, you can fight higher leveled monsters that drop much more worthwhile items, leading to even more gil. This is changes every 5 levels or so, as you can begin to fight harder monsters (that still are considered "Too Weak" by the game) to atain different items or more valuble ones. Also the higher you get in level, the more places you can go to mine, harvest or log. This requires the investment of the particular item that is used to retrieve an item from the "point." You usually need to be at least level 10 to avoid aggro from the monsters in these areas. This is a time consuming process, but can be very rewarding over time.

Quests and missions are great ways to gain funds, as they tend to be (for the most part) dependent on your own skill and ability to get items from special areas or other NPC characters. One of the best quests is the Burning Circle Notorious Monster quest. The BCNM quest allows you to take all the beastman seals you have attained, and trade them for a specific level orb, to be used in one of the burning circles located throughout the game. They all drop items that are worth large amounts of gil. The downside is, that they are exceptionally hard and almost always have to be done with more than one other persoiob(s) that you have leveled. Once you find a BCNM that works well with your job(s), it is easy to make money by using them. Mission are useful for the fact that every time you get a rank up, you are given gil for your services. Also, white mages who attain the level of 36 or higher have the opportunity to aquire the teleport spells. Other adventurers will pay as much as 1000 gil per teleport, because it allowsz them to get to another area much quicker than walking, and usually cheaper than riding a chocobo.

While brief, I hope this short guide will enable you to start the game knowing more about making money than I did. If you find another method than what I have included, by all means, use it. There are many ways to make gil in the game, so don't feel restricted to what I or any other player, has written. In the end it is just a game, so don't worry too much about the equipment and spells you have, Just Have Fun!
