HOPE HEADLINES HELPING OTHER PEOPLE EVERYWHERE
We cannot plead ignorance; we have experienced it first hand.  Just remember, for some of you, the Defending Your Life essay reading, when we shared some of the most painful memories.  Afterward was only the second time I had ever cried, during a high school class.  I remember thinking, if only I could take their pain for them, I could bear it for them, if only.  But I just couldntand I cant.  I want to thank Jake and Emily, for the conversation after, for showing me that we all have those pains, and we all want to reach out to each, that we need each other.  They showed me that, on that day, we saw the peaks and depths of raw human emotion; we have seen the worst and it has brought out our best.
There are many who do not realize that our way of life has changed.  Many of us have given up on religion, why, I do not know.   Out of personal experience, I do know that tragedy makes us cling to our God; but some of us just forget Him in the everyday.  We even forget where we came from at times, and we forget where we are going.  What happened to truth, honor, and the soul?  Even our Southern hospitality is disappearing.  We need to get those values back.  But how is the question!!
I firmly believe it starts with every one of us, with our selves.  Not that I am saying that any one is anything less than a human being, but I know that I can do better in my everyday.  There are many I would, if I could, but I cant, so I wont attitudes going around.  I am not saying that everyone should take a year off from school to travel around the world doing aid work, but little things do make a difference.  If only ONE person had been able to reach past the anger Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold had, the two that had orchestrated the Columbine High School massacre, then it is possible that twelve people would have continued on with their lives, and many others would not have the pain that radiates from that one day.
I know we have all heard this story before, but if God does looks down upon our lives, I dont want Him to be crying for me or my friends.  I want Him to say, This is why you are here: to show the world this compassion, this faith, this love.  I want you to bring the world hope.

'What If God Was One of Us?'

I have a serious question: what if God was one of us?  Yes, I know it is a song, but what if He came to stroll among His children, would He cry for us?  Would He cry to see our country, based in His name, committing so many horrendous acts?  If He stepped into the high schools, and hears the profanity, see the skin exposure, the utter violence in nature, what would He do?
