A) As with anything foreign being put into your body there are risks..such as infection or muscle hardening around the implant. But these reactions have a low percentage.
? Should Implants be placed under or over the muscle?
A) There are several compelling reasons to get it under the muscle in the breast: lower risk of capsular contracture, more thorough and easier mammograms, more natural looks for many patients, less vible rippling, less sagging, the downside is that more effort and experience is required by the surgeon to ensure the implants arent too high or too far apart that would create a unnatural look.
? What are chances that the implant will leak and need to be replaced?
A)The primary reason for replacing a saline implant is deflation, which is a harmless event and not usually related to any specific activity. While it is unlikely that every implant will last a lifetime there is no reason to replace an implant arbitrarily after a certain period of time.
