The Lost Land of Iowka

note - I personally think this theme really sucks, but if u want to use it u can, even though its incredibaly stupid

My life stinks. Nothing ever happens to me, I thought as I walked to PS118 Middle School.

Maybe you should get to know me better. My name is Poindexter Wilson, and I live in California with my dad and mom. Im a little on the chubby side and have sandy blonde hair. I live a miserable life of no adventure.

When I got to school I went straight to the library, my favorite place. Looking around at the books, I found an old brown book I had never seen before. Curious, I took it out. It was called Land of Iowka. When I started to read it, I noticed it was about and elf named Griswald.

Flash! Flash! Bright lights fluttered through my eyes! What the heck is happening? I mumbled to myself.

After spinning around several dozen times, I landed in a very weird place. The grass was pink and the sky was light blue with purple clouds. This was exactly the place that was described in Land of Iowka. This was freaky!

I wondered around aimlessly trying to find Griswald. I figured he would know what to do. After what seemed hours, I stumbled across a dragon. His greenish brown scales glittered in the sun, and his ferocious face was held up high to symbolize his great power. He seemed to be guarding an entrance to a forest.

Halt, who goes there? the dragon asked.

Uh, I started cautiously, my name is Poindexter Wilson.

In order to pass, the dragon boomed, you must answer these three riddles.

Okay, I replied, secretly knowing that I was great at riddles.

#1. A ten-foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung at the surface of the water. There is one foot between the rungs, and the tide goes up at the rate of six inches per hour. How long until three rungs are covered? the dragon asked.

Umm. Let me think. I know! The rungs will never cover because the boat goes up with the tide!

Good job. You passed #1. Now for #2. Some months have thirty days, others have thirty-one. How many have twenty-eight?

This one was easy.

All of them, I answered.

Correct again. #3. Mr. and Mrs. Smith have six daughters, and each daughter has one brother. How many people are in the family?

Man, this one had me stumped. I knew it couldnt be fourteen because that would be too easy.

Would it be nine?

Yes! You are correct! he shouted.

All of a sudden he started to change color. Bang! A spell had broken.

Thank you so much! You just saved me by getting all the riddles right.

Uh, your welcome, I said confused.

Maybe I should tell you my name. Im Splitzer the Dragon and have been trapped under a witchs spell for ages. You saved me! The least I could do is repay you.

I have figured out that I somehow got sucked into a book, and I need to find Griswald the Elf because hell know what to do. Maybe you can help me.

Oh, we havent had one of these cases for a while. Just hop on my back and well get an aerial view of the area.

After a while I spotted him walking towards a castle. His elegant body and strong face made you know he was courageous and smart.

We dove down and stopped him in his tracks. I waved goodbye as Splitzer flew into the clouds.

Umm, excuse me. I was wondering if you could help me get back home. My name is Poindexter.

Okay, he said, Im going to see the princess. Im sure she would know what to do.

Thank you, I replied.

Shortly after, we arrived at the gate to the castle.

Im here to see the princess Moon Star, Griswald told the guard.

And who is your friend? the guard asked.

This is my human friend Poindexter.

Wow, I thought. Griswalds friend. What an honor.

The guard let us enter. Th palace was magnificent. Practically everything was made out of gold and gems.

Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a thief hidden in the shadows. He was dressed in all black and was taking jewelry from a shelf.

Welcome, The princess started, is there anything I can do for you?

I knew I had to get that burglar.

Griswald, may I borrow your sword? I whispered.

Sure.

Grabbing it, I lunged toward the burglar, stabbing him in the heart.

Good grief! I didnt even see him there. Thank you so much! Moon Star exclaimed.

For your good deed I will grant you three wishes.

Okay, I almost shouted in joy.

Hmm I knew my last wish would be to go home.

I wish I were handsome, I wish I was popular, and I wish to go home.

Granted.

I was then back at my school. I was skinny, good looking, and new friends surrounded me. It was the perfect life. Thank you, Moon Star.
