Dear Mother,
Life at the farm is really tough. My master, Mr. Jones, is very mean! He gives us hardly any food and uses terrible whips and harnesses. Luckily, though, Old Major had a meeting with us the other day. He told all of the animals about a dream of a wonderful world without humans. He even told us that we could rebel against them and live in a utopian society. I don't really know what that means, but it sure sounds good. Major also taught us a song about the rebellion. It's called Beasts of England. And this rebellion might even take place sometime during my life! I'll make sure those humans pay, especially since they separated me from you when I was still a colt.
I particularly agree with Major when he told us that all animals are equal, and that animals can never come to resemble man. Man is the most awful creature! It consumes without producing, and ruins all animals' lives! They will be taken down! I just know it! Well, I hope that I'll get to see you again, especially now that this new hope has arisen.
