Life in The Word(Jesus)
New and old Testament Parallels
"Can you be baptized with my baptism?"
"They did not love their lives even unto death"
Line upon line precept upon precept each principle of christ are to be learned, applied and obeyed inorder to attain spiritual growth!
Greater love has no man than to lay his life down for others.
By this level we have learned to be givers and happy cheerful givers at that..more giving of ourselves will be required to scale the higher rungs.
It all starts with a meeting with Christ that envokes a desire to follow the master;
The Lowest rung: before salvation a desire to be blessed!
Almost all of us have that desire.
Coming into faith
Salvation by grace
Being Trained in scriptures and a desire to grow by drinking the milk of the word
Baptism in The Holy Spirit
Dreams and visions
Taking responsiblity for the work, Taking up one's cross
Mercy & Forgivness
Having a giving heart!
Mercy is a character of God we need to Learn and apply it!
Can't be  a christian without being generous
In the upper rungs everything will be required in greater portions along with greater discipline
Purity
Purity of heart brings the fulfilment of being able to see God!
You might remember the cult classic song 'A stairway to heaven'. One of the least discussed parallels found both in the old and new testaments has to do with Jacob's vision about a ladder (or stairway) that streched all the way into the heavens, on which he saw angles ascending and descending. This may also be one of the handful scripture portions within the old testament where Jesus appears as 'The Lord'. Jesus spoke the exact same words to his desciple Nathan, "You shall see the heavens open and the angles ascending and descending upon the son of man." Surely, it can't be a coincidence that Jesus used the same terms to describe an aspect of his own ministry (I.E. the presence of ministering angles). Was Jesus saying, "I am Jacob's ladder and the stairway to heaven.", when he was speaking to Nathan? It would certainly be consistent with the rest of what He said about himself. Jacob had said when he woke up from this particular dream, "This is the gate to heaven" and Jesus has said about Himself, "I am the gate". This  also suggests another query. Was Jesus telling this devout Jewish man and the near by desciples, well aware of the story of Jacob's ladder, probably since their childhood, that all blessings came through the son of man?. If that were true, what is the spiritual truth hidden behind Jacob's ladder? Bellow we will attempt to show how to move up Jacob's ladder of blessedness through The Son Jesus Christ. See if you can find it to be plausable.
