A fool says in his heart of hearts "Is there a God?" And he reasons, If He is there, can we know it? If we knew it, surely we can't prove it Why repent? I will live as I see fit
He slumbers and sleeps and he awakes To the sorrows that which life brings Is there a God? he posits On what else can I blame this This anomaly, an aberration of reality
And the reality of his nightmare Forces him to contemplate things rare Eclipsed by desire he fails the required Ingratiating his baser self he fears Is there a God? I would that He disappear
Holed up in a fox hole, he cries for help To a 'nonexistent' God "If you are there.." "I am in depths of despair, Please hear my prayer"
