Iscariot (Section XIII)

The Secret order of the Catholic church, dedicated to irradicating undead monsters, heathens and heretics.

--- This is the Iscariot organization. Like Hellsing, Iscariot doesn't officially exist. Like Hellsing, it is run by the government at the heart of its religion - Vatican City is to Catholicism as England is to Anglicanism. Like Hellsing, Section XIII exists to protect people from vampires. You'd think, then, that they'd be on good terms with Hellsing, maybe even working together with them once in a while. Of course, you'd be wrong.

--- Unlike Hellsing, Iscariot also takes out heathens and heretics - loosely defined as "anyone who threatens the Church, does something horrendously against doctrine, or gets on our nerves." And the Hellsing organization, by employing first one and then another vampire - filthy ungodly monsters that they are - falls into this category.

--- Iscariot has been on edgy legal ground with Hellsing for a while; the only thing keeping Integra from trying to prosecute them all is their mutual desire to keep up their secrecy. But since Iscariot can't outright attack, the most it's done is nip at Hellsing's heels (largely with Alexander Anderson, their resident paladin with souped-up regenerative ability). In their ideal world, both organizations would avoid each other entirely. Since they work in the same field, however, they end up bumping elbows quite often.

--- Enrico Maxwell is the young, arrogant, debonaire leader, equivalent in authority to Integra. Alex Anderson is a priest who can take bullets to the head and walk away standing, thus making him Iscariot's ace in the hole and rival for Alucard. Two more of Iscariot's star officers are the split-personality Yumiko/Yumie Takagi and her partner Heinkel Wolfe, whose ranks are comparable to Pip and Seras; and behind the scenes Father Renaldo shuffles information around pretty much like Walter. But without the floss.
