My friend had set up a dance for the whole seventh grade; her large Victorian house with five floors, and seventy-seven rooms, had two acres of green grass for a back yard. My friend's family was very rich, they bought food, drinks, balloons, streamers, all party stuff, and even hired the best DJ in the state for the night. "Y'all ready for this?" shouted the DJ, "The next song is 'Beautiful', by Christina Aguilura, a slow song, guy's pick this time!" My head held high, with a slight hope.but even so, just a small streak of flashing silver. My eyes darted from here to there, but I didn't see who I was looking for. I only saw people getting together into couples, starting to sway with the music, as they looked into each other's eyes with admiration. I had one huge highlight of my life, of course, just a teenager's dream, the love of my life. He was a tall boy the age of thirteen. He had brown hair with a buzz cut. His eyebrows caused a shadow over his deep brown eyes. He was skinny but very strong and athletic. He was very smart, almost a Mr. Perfect too, but that doesn't matter to me. He was bright, sensitive, and funny. Looking around again, I spotted "the someone" that caused my heart melt when I looked at him. Was he looking at me, in my direction? He turned away. I looked down. "I am beautiful no matter what they say Words won't bring me down I am beautiful in every single way Yes, words won't bring me down Don't you bring me down today..." I had to reach him, somehow, and tell him that I love him, and ask him to dance with me. Do I dare to that? My eyes wandered up again. He was coming my way! Again, the thin streak of shining silver trickled. I stood up, but he passed me, and was walking towards a different girl. I couldn't bear to look. "You are beautiful no matter what they say Words won't bring you down You are beautiful in every single way Yes, words won't bring you down So don't you bring me down today." I slowly sat down, and looked back to the shining moon. Silent tears flowed down my cheeks until the song slowly finished to a stop. |
