You lie there so cold
Your body, a tomb that once held life
A change came over your heart
Once enraptured now ensorcelled by strife

You chose to walk that way
Then came the hour you expected least
The love you knew was torn away

Many times I ponder
Why some things in life must be
Respiting thoughts of anguish
Christ came and perished to set us free

You sat alone in silence
Streams of tears flowed from your eyes
There is no healing now
No salvation after your demise

I tried to make you understand
I may never understand reasons you fell away
You’ll be in His presence once again
Kneeling before the throne on His Judgment Day
