Sammi Cheung is a very popular female artist in Hong
Kong. She is a role model for many young teenagers. Some people may not know
that her first English name was actually Twiny. She changed it to Sammi because
it’s easier to pronounce and sounds cooler. Although she does act in some
movies, she is more popular for her singing and for her funky styles of make-up
and dressing. I personally think she is very beautiful and stunning. Whether it
is her Nike shape eyebrows, large suntan, hype hair coloring or the big rose
hat, her style has made great impact on her own career and fashion trends. She
was the one who triggered many Chinese youths to start dying their hair with
copper, reds and browns in the early 90’s. Before she started to color her hair
to enhance her appearance, many teenagers had black hair.

In the Chinese culture, parents are pretty strict and coloring your hair is
considered to be a deviant act. It is true that Asians tend to look disobedient
with their hair colored because it dose not look natural and gives them a
naughty look. That is one of the reasons why schools in Hong Kong and China do
not allow students to go to school with his/her hair colored. Many Chinese
adults think that youths with colored hair are not good peopled. Young kids and
teens want to, but are not allowed to dye their hair so they find Sammi’s style
to be very fascinating..
