Miles

On the lonely highway nowhere in sight,
My eyes grow heavy from driving all night,
The sights are maddening my spirits turn grim,
That's when I see the nightlights begin to dim.

I feel the eyes watching me,
They want my soul to keep,
The night has a hunger,
That's why I don't sleep.

I've been weakened brought to my knees,
But given life through my cemetary trees,
I pick up speed as it begins to rain,
The thunder and lightning only feed my pain.

I feel the eyes watching me,
They want my soul to keep,
The night has a hunger,
That's why I don't sleep.

Battling demons my heart had to create,
They have a thirst for my very life to take,
But they won't beat me no matter how I weep,
For I still have miles to go before I sleep.
