| Nov 1, 2001 ....We have smuggled a word into the dictionary which ought not to be there at all "Self-Sacrifice". It describes a thing which does not exist... We ignore and never mention the Sole Impulse which dictates and compels a man's every act: the imperious necessity of securing his own approval, in every emergency and at all costs. ...What do you call love, hate, charity, revenge, humanity, magnanimity, forgiveness? Different results of the one master impulse: the necessity of securing one's self-approval. - Mark Twain (from What is Man?) ******************************************************************************** Nov 2, 2001 The road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone And i must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way And wither then? I cannot say. - J. R. R. Tolkein (from Lord of the Rings) ********************************************************************************** Nov 5, 2001 There are only two ways to live your life One is as though nothing is a miracle.. ..the other is as though everything is a miracle. - Albert Einstein ********************************************************************************** Nov 6, 2001 (Tuesday - movie night) Movies sometimes touch us in much the same way that books and poetry can. There's good movies and bad movies, some make you laugh..and others inspire you. As a student in Canada, tuesday nights were very special to me (half price movie night) and so starting this week i'm making a slight change to this random thought mailer. I'm designating tuesdays for quotes from some of my favourite movies. This one comes from the all time coolest high school moview :) ..........I do have a test today. It's European Socialism. I mean what's the point? I'm not European. I don't plan to be Eurpean. So who gives a crap if they are socialists. They could be fascists, anarchists. It still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car. .........It's not that I condone fascism, or any ism for that matter. Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon "I do not believe in the Beatles, I just believe in me." (quoted by Ferris, in the movie "Ferris Bueller's day off") |
