If one attempts to live according to a Greek Reconstructionist Calendar, which would be based upon the moon's phase in Athens, it can become quite complicated and frustrating. If you would like to try it, I have posted a link to the left for the Hellenic Month Est. in Athens.(...and remember that Greek Pagan days begin at sundown the "day before".)
This calendrical confusion can cause otherwise dedicated individuals to fall away from the Greek Pagan Path, so I have developed/adapted two Greek Pagan Calendars, using ideas of other individuals combined with my own innovations, to make them easier to use.
The first calendar is the easiest to understand and use. This makes the Easy Pagan Calendar good for those who are exploring Greek and Roman Paganism or newbies who are just looking to get the flavor of Greek and Roman worship. It assigns a single deity to each Civil month, so over the course of a year, twelve deities are honoured. One could choose to read either Homeric or Orphic Hymns dedicated to the month's deity daily. This calendar does NOT requre the use of lunar phases; it is NOT anywhere near being "Reconstructionist".
The second calendar I have included applies to each lunar month by assigning particular deitie(s) and selections from the Homeric Hymns to each day (based upon the phase of the moon). This calendar is based upon the calendar from HMEpA, but is adapted for use within the US and Canada - and it is based upon the sighting of the moon in the US. It DOES use the Lunar Phases to determine the date; it is an attempt at being "Reconstructionist" with modern adaptations. It has an accompanying chart for appropriate Orphic Hymns to read on each day.
