| Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (J.K. Rowling) Actually, I just finished reading it. But OH MY GOD... they just keep getting better and better DAMMIT! I've noticed that from the third book onwards, Rowling seems to center around a specific theme for each book. 'Azkaban' was all about human psychology, recognizing our deepest fears, etc... pretty heavy stuff. 'Goblet' was obviously about courage in the face of adversity, blah blah blah. 'Phoenix' is all about politics and corruption. I'm trying to think back to when she was still writing it... I'm guessing it would have been around the time the whole debate on whether or not to invade Iraq was still going on, and of course, the UK played a huge role in that. So I'm kind of wondering if maybe this is how she channeled her feelings on that situation... Either way it was a fantastic book, and now I just wanna curl up and suffer through my Harry Potter detox in peace... |
