Through FIRST and the FIRST Robotics Competition, High School students are provided the opportunity to work with professionals in the fields of science and technology to work toward the common goal of winning the competition.  The Competition is a life changing experience that will leave students and mentors alike with a new sense teamwork.  In the six weeks given to build the robot and get it ready for competition, students will learn much about their fellow teammates and even themselves.  FIRST teams come from almost every U.S. state as well as Canada, Brazil, and the U.K.  In 2003, more than 20,000 students on 800+ teams are expected to be involved.  Many scholarships are offered to these students from colleges, universities, corporations, businesses, and individuals.  This program shows students the many opportunities exist in the technology and that the basic concepts of math, science, engineering, and invention are fun and exciting.
