Welcome Helix Class of 1976 30th Reunion, Helix Highlanders, Scotties

Tim Wamsley
I haven't written in a bit but, I've got my attention focused in other places right now, as I indicated earlier, I will NOT be attending our 30th reunion, as I have a previous engagement.

I'm currently deployed,with the Navy in sunny Farah, Afghanistan, a true garden spot on this, or any other Earth. Now don't take my word for it, but you won't likely find this place in any of the better circulated Tourism magazines. And I am most likely going to scratch it from my list of future vacation destinations.

But I digress, in leiu of my absence, I'd like to submit a current photo, to put on the out of site, but maybe not out of mind board.

With a few stats:

• Married, Same wife, 21 yrs. name Emerald
• One child, 18 year old daughter, named Nicole
• Work for a major Government agency, Navy
• Live in Paradise Hills Ca. not far away
• Have 2 stupid dogs, but am attached to both
• Haven't been able to keep in touch with anybody from Helix, other than Denise Iverson, for obvious reasons (she's my sister-in-law)
• and I should be back in the states sometime next April, I hope.

David Thompson
Following graduation from Helix High School, I went on to college, taking classes at several universities in San Diego and earning a bachelors degree from UCSD.

Following graduation, I joined the Navy and attended Navy Officer Candidate School and other Navy schools in Newport, RI.

From 1983 to 1988, I served on active-duty on Navy ships in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Japan. Upon release from active-duty, I affiliated with the Navy Reserve and has served in Reserve units in Southern California and in Alaska, rising to the rank of Navy captain.

In my civilian career, I have worked largely in the information technology field, working in Southern California for defense contractors, MCI, and Safeway, Inc – the owner of the Vons grocery chain.

For the past year and a half, I have been back in uniform on active-duty in the Navy at U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain coordinating Navy manpower issues in Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the Middle East for the Global War on Terrorism.
