This is
my best film till date and it landed quite by surprise.
I learnt later that I was suggested from 3 quarters all the while each person thinking its a different person. The production manager of this project had worked with me in my first Malayalam film 'Vamanapuram Bus Route'; he suggested me from that, the Story writer 'T. A. Shahid' had seen me in my second malayalam Film 'Wanted'; he liked me from that and director 'Joshi' had seen me in K.Balachander's teleserial. I was in Udumalaipettai shooting for 'Nerenja Manasu' when I got a call from the production manager asking me if I was available. With just a week left to shoot I left for Kerala thinking it was just a regular role. It wasnt till I met Shahid on my day of reaching Kerala for the shoot that I realised what the character was. My highlight scene in this movie is where I go to the Hero's house and terrorise the women folk. I had pitched to do the role 'Arshad Warsi' played in 'Munna Bhai MBBS' when it was to be made in Tamil. I did not get to do it but I ended up learning how to use the Thai Flip Knife in the bargain. I showed this to Joshi Sir and he let me show off in this scene! By the end of it all, I made some great friends like T.A Shahid, one of the most talented story writers in recent malayalam film history. The unit was great as well. Best of all, I got to work with names I had grown up watching on screen like Shobana. I still remember the day I had seen her National award winning performance in 'Mani Chitra Thazhu' when I was in college. What an actress she is. My first two Malayalam films were also with Mohanlal so he needs no special mention. He is one of the reasons I kindled the dream of becoming an actor. Director Joshi is a legend in malayalam and working with him is one of the best experiences of my life. |
