The Gran Sabana is part of the Guayanan Shield and its one of the oldest regions on earth. The location is south-east of Venezuela and is almost one quarter of the total extension of our country.

The carasteristic of this region are the  "Tepuys", the altitud of the Tepuis goes from 1.500 m to 2.810 m, and the biggest tropical forest wich conects to the Amazonian region (Brasil). You can find there a lot of dark water rivers (because of the content of iron) and impresing water falls like the
Aponguao Falls, Kama Falls and last but not least, the highest (nearly 1.000 m) one in the world, the famous Angel Falls.

The Gran Sabana also presents you a great number of tropical plants (specialy orchids like
Lawrenciana and Genmanii), animals and its a paradise for bird watchers.

Traveling along the southern border with Brasil we will have a touch with the amazonian landscape including a short visit to a small village (La Linea) in Brasil.

On the road to the Gran Sabana we pass trough some famous gold-digger-villages like
El Callao, Tumeremo and  El Dorado, with the possibility to buy gold or diamonds.
