I have never been involved in a political campaign before, and can't believe how emotional I have become with the upcoming aldermanic election.

I too received Helen's campaign mailing.  It really surprised me, as I didn't think that her office even knew I existed, since I have never, in my 1 ½ years in Uptown, have received anything in the mail from her office.  Nothing to let me know what she was doing about the crime in Uptown (I forgot, it doesn't exist in Uptown).  What she was doing to bring in retail development to an incredibly underserved area.  No, she can't send anything out on these issues since she is not concerned with them.  It is all about keeping her block of voters happy and trying to keep Uptown the armpit of the North side.  Note to poor people:  Life could be better for you if you weren't stuck in the ghetto that Shiller keeps you in.

Although, apparently, Helen was able to send a mailing to the few stragglers at a run down building at the end of my block.  According to the guys who bought the building (Thank you, God), Helen did send a mailing telling the people that they should stay put and that they shouldn't pay their rent since they were going to be evicted.  This was a true crack house.  The last squatters had to finally be removed by the police.  This was a haven for drug dealing, but Helen was protecting the poor, disadvantaged people who called this building home.

Yes, I am one of the bad people who works hard, was able to scrape together enough money for a down payment and bought a condo.  I am evil.  I want all "poor" people to move.  The reality is that I don't give a rat's ass how much my neighbor makes, I just want them to respect my property and the neighborhood.

Please, if you are gay, and think Helen is your savior, think again.  Sandra Reed is just as dedicated to the gay community and will support us.  She recently sponsored a domestic partner registry.  Sandra Reed is a genuinely good person who I have been very delighted to get to know in the last 1 ½ years that I have been in Uptown.

If you live on the southern fringe of the 46th Ward and think everything is great so why not vote for Shiller, think again.  Shiller inherited much of your area.  Do you want to see what she can do to a neighborhood?  Head north on Broadway.  Hang out at the Wilson el stop.  This is what Helen has owned for years and this is what she calls progress?

Please, vote for Sandra Reed.
