INNER CHANGE can INITIATE OUTER CHANGE

The following is an efficient way for managers to bring about changes at work-places:
The
NINE CHANGE AGENTS are taken from the book "Don't compete, tilth the field" by Louis Patler.

1. Change the paradigm.
The most efficient way to bring about changes is to change the paradigm, the set of ideas that rules your daily business!
If you can come up with a brand new set of useful ideas and if you manage to sell it to your workers - congratulations!
(Guess what the author of this article is trying to do: - )

2. The second most efficient way to get things to change is to make clear and sell the goals of they system to the workers. What good are we doing here?! How can we make it better? Do we need to make things better? What good does that make for us?!
If you can make your workers proud of their profession (well, that's a change of paradigm), that will be helpful too: - )

3. The third most efficient way is to realize the power of self-organization. The staff of every department in your company is in many ways experts of what they do. Listen to their ideas about useful changes within their department.
It is your task as a manager to find the best way to link the departments together in a well-functioning over-all organization.

4. The fourth most efficient way to control what happens is the set of rules of the system, like punishments, rewards, constraints.

5. The fifth most efficient way to control what happens is by regulating the information flows.(Just spreading information is not likely to bring about any real change.)

6. Positive feed-back. (A pat on the back.)

7. Regulating negative feed-back. (Be nice but firm.)

8. Controlling material stocks and flows, the provision of products and services.

9. Changing "numbers", taxation, subsidies, standards is the least efficient way to bring about changes!

IF YOU, AT THE SAME TIME, MANAGE TO CHANGE
    THE MIND,
    THE SKILLS
    THE TOOLS
OF YOUR STAFF,
THEN YOU HAVE A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE: - )

Albert Einstein said: "Most problems cannot be solved using the same kind of thinking that created the problem in the first place!"
