China
Next, we went to across China
And not forgetting that the world cup was on, here's some students at the university keeping up with events.
The chinese are a sporty bunch, here's a typical pool hall, found in lots of small streets and alleys, this one was in Lhasa.
One of the highlights for me was seeing the pandas at a breeding and research centre in Chengdu - I could have watched this mum with her kids all day!
Also in Chengdu is the world's largest  Buddha - 71m tall - and he's sitting down.

There are lots of Buddhas everywhere in Asia and we went to Luoyang to see some ancient carvings in rocks by the River Yi.
Next stop was Xian, home of the most famous army in the world - and I was impressed.  Xian, like most cities we visited in China is a mix of old and new, as illustrated here ->

Of course no trip to China would be complete without a trip to the Great Wall.  It certainly wasn't built by Romans.
