I have had the pleasure of being part
of a truly great organization that provides jobs for people with
disabilities in the Winona, MN area. The goal of our organization
is to train people with proper work skills so that they can obtain
a job in the community. Our consumers are mentally retarded, learning
disabled, physically impaired, and mentally ill. Our workers have
the option of working in our building or with a job coach in the
community. Many are hired directly by the employer.
I am a supervisor in our in-house program
which consists of work for area companies. Some of our work areas
include small assembly, RF sealing, shrink wrap, skin wrap, sewing,
and machining.
